A Path to Follow

Parents leave prints on their children's lives...from years before conception to every second of the day.

Halloween

I need a hero! Our lil' man dressed up as Clark Kent (aka Superman). Erik and I took Elijah to our church for Trunk or Treat. Elijah was very good at taking one piece of candy then putting it in his bag. So cute! Pastor Bob even called us good parents for trying to get some candy that he could actually try (and not choke on).

Mom's Eye View

I don't know how my feet aren't in this picture. He looks so short from way up here at my eye level. I'll have to post a "tall" picture of him soon.

Jesus

Elijah said 'Jesus' for the first time today. We were saying, "Say Jesus...say Jesus." We showed him his ABC book and went over all the letters and their pictures. We showed him Obama and Romney. We asked him, "Are you voting for Obama or Romney?" He just pointed at the computer screen. A little later Erik asks, "Who are you voting for?" Elijah says, "Jesus." Well, Jesus is already King, but I'm sure you could vote for him as a write-in candidate if you want.

Sunday Costume Changes

Pajamas from last night...and a sock monkey snack. Church clothes featuring a sweater vest. Batman while saying Dada. And in the last corner, we have orange little pumpkin pajamas for tonight. Sleep tight, Elijah John.

More Birthdays

Wearing his orange moose shirt, Elijah was ready to party. We celebrated his cousins' birthdays: Josie turned 4 and Dalton turned 9. Everyone loved Elijah's googly eyes on his shirt. He entertained everyone by throwing the football and interacting with the one-year-old girl who was there. Josie entertained us by showing us 2 of her tap dance routines.

Celebrating Great Grandma's Birthday

Happy 85th birthday Great Grandma! We loved coming over to see you. Thanks for cooking me chili, letting me play with your fall decorations, and giving me kisses.

Clear the Shelves

Elijah cleaned the shelves for me. Thanks, Buddy-Do! Here's the Pledge and an old rag. Let's get the dusting started. We'll focus on cleaning the floor and vacuuming later.

Stickers

I gave Elijah a couple stickers and put them on his shirt. He had fun sticking them on his hands and diaper. Maybe he can help put those To/From stickers on our Christmas presents this year since he's good at helping and playing with sticky stuff.

Stop Tickling Me

This is the face Elijah makes when he's laughing uncontrollably because Daddy keeps tickling him.

Basketball Bath

Bath time was fun playing basketball tonight (as it is  several nights of the week). I even took a video of him watching this video. It had some cute parts but probably not blog worthy. Check out my Facebook for a couple pics I took today.

What?

I caught him trying to crawl around his ramps and between the ramps, dump truck and dinosaur.

Spy Dad

Elijah was not napping today. He cried for about a half hour this morning and still wouldn't fall asleep. Thus, we had a whiny, cranky baby all day. So we went outside because being out in God's nature calms us down. Of course, falling and getting a face full of mud may make Elijah cry, but Mommy will come to the rescue.

Little did we know that Daddy was spying on us during our backyard adventure. We were attaching sticks to the tree bark and listening for dogs, birds, and motorcycles. Daddy stole my camera and caught us having fun. Good news: Elijah finally took a nap this afternoon.

Awk

Awkward slouching, awkward baby babbles and awkward ball throwing is what this kid is all about. I wonder when he gets that awkwardness...surely not from his father or me.

Nose Drips

Our Buddy-Do has a runny nose. Maybe he's getting more teeth...? He has 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom now. It's hard to tell if a new one is coming until I can feel it.

Airplane Walker

We finally brought this toy out again. Two months ago, Elijah was just learning how to walk well and he was having a hard time pushing this toy when it wouldn't support his weight. Now he can walk (almost run) and knows how to push the toy without leaning heavily on it. We're still working on squeezing the handles to pop the balls out of the front. Right now he puts the ball in the top, pushes the plane until it hits something, then tips it over to dump the balls out.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Elijah and Daddy walked through the backyard in the crunchy leaves. Daddy's birthday card from Elijah says "Daddy, I love you a whole bunch...'Cause it's so much fun hangin' out with you! Happy Birthday!" Monkeys and bananas are so popular.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Elijah got me a birthday card. He even signed it. He also got me cheesy Pringles. My favorite gift? That smile :)

Apple Picking

We went up to Plattsburg today to celebrate our birthdays (Mine is tomorrow, Erik's is Tuesday). On our way home, we stopped by the Ison's house to pick apples. IT was very windy and Erik had to lift Elijah over his head so he could reach the apples. We left with apples, tomatoes, and a pumpkin! Thanks for feeding us.

Right-Handed

I'm guessing Elijah's right-handed because he always throws with his right hand and usually eats with his right hand. This is how he throws...arm bent, ball on shoulder, palm down, swing forward, quickly turn wrist, and ball flies forward.

Show Me The Money!

Erik had some cash out and Elijah decided to run around with it. $21! What are we gonna buy?

Autumn Love

We went out for a photo shoot today. I got to use my camera, Elijah had fun being a model (and playing in the leaves), and Daddy was a great assistant. Elijah was smiling weird though...oh well.

Dada Hides

Dada was behind the door and Elijah did not like it. He kept putting the phone on the door and whining so Dada would open the door to play.

Then Dada was hiding behind the couch. Elijah grins at me and turns to see Dada pop his head up from the top of the couch. Peek-a-boo is still cool.

Text Baby

Erik let Elijah use his phone so he could text all his friends. He really gets excited when he's able to slide the keyboard out.

Turkey Leg

At the Renaissance Festival, we strolled around watching sword fighting, fire jugglers, jousting, and comedians. Elijah enjoyed eating some turkey leg, and he was in a great mood the entire time. I even bought a couple pairs of earrings (one with stars and one for Christmas).

Happy Birthday, JE! We had fun with you today.

Lunch Date

We had lunch at Great Aunt Kass and Great Grandma's house. They even baby-proofed the living room for Elijah - thanks! Lunch was good. Elijah was good. Dessert was good. Company was good. Smiles were good. Picture (from my phone = blurry) not so good.

Pretend Nap

Daddy was using Elijah's sports blanket. Elijah decided to take it and put it away in the blanket basket. I asked Elijah to give me his Kojo the Croc blanket that also goes in that basket. I opened up the blanket part and spread it out. He sat down on it and then laid down like he was napping.

Car Play

Elijah was playing with his cars for about twenty minutes. Can you imagine a toddler focused on one activity for that long? He was concentrating so hard at one point that his tongue was sticking out of the corner of his mouth. Cars go vroom!

Dino Popping

Elijah had a quick playtime before AWANA. Cute overalls!

Lean Back

Not sure where this kid learns things, but his new thing is leaning back on the couch. Perhaps he thinks he'll be able to reach his ball if he tries like this. When he saw that I liked taking pictures of this, it only encouraged that behavior.

200 Dandelions

This post is # 200! Looking back at my first posts really shows how much Elijah's grown in just a few months. In today's video, I taught Elijah how to blow dandelion seeds.
