Flashback

I'm still in Omaha. The wedding is tonight...so this will be night 2 away from my little guy. (My mom says he's been great for them.) I didn't see him today so I don't have any new pictures to post. The picture on the left is Elijah in his "going home" outfit for leaving the hospital after he was born. The picture on the right is from when he was just a few weeks old making his kissy face. He's grown up so much in the few months of his little life. That's my cutie!

Dear Lord, I pray that Elijah stays healthy and grows with wisdom. I hope he stays as curious so he is now and uses that strength in his walk of life. Let us, as parents, guide him in the way he should go. Thank you for this blessing of a child. In Jesus' name, amen.

Miss You!

Tonight is my first night away from Elijah. This picture is from this morning when he was playing in our room and we were getting ready for work. Elijah is staying with my parents while Erik and I attend a wedding in Omaha. Thank you!

I miss my baby!

Shelf to Shelf

Toys must travel from the floor to the shelf. Then all those toys must go to the next shelf over. After that they should go to the next shelf over...if that shelf has no room, all toys are to be put back on the floor. Elijah spent a long time moving all his toys from one shelf to the next until they were all back on the floor again. Interesting thought process this boy has.

Catch

Our latest game is catch. I say, "Throw the ball, Elijah!" Then Elijah throws the ball into my hand from just inches away. If he's too far away he'll crawl to me before throwing it.

Mommy, I'm Home!

When Elijah got home from daycare, he came to sit with me and was just chilling. Usually I can only hold him for a second before he's wiggling down to play on the floor or grab something he's not allowed to play with. Today I got some cuddles! Thank you, baby.

Growing Ego

I was teaching him how to play the drums with an old can and a spoon, but he'd rather look at himself in my flip around camera screen. Can you tell his eyes are looking to the left (his right)? Usually a look to the side means Mommy or Daddy is there but not this time. "I look at myself. I'm so interesting."

Dropping

Elijah's new game with his toys is to pick one up and hold it behind his head before dropping it on the floor. He'll do this with all the toys in his area before moving on to something else. Yesterday this game was played with mushy bananas as well - haha!

Baths are so much fun...especially bubble baths! Dropping toys in the water and making a huge splash adds to the excitement. Getting my camera wet....not so much fun. Ok...ok...it was still pretty funny.

Hair Spiral

I'm so glad his hair is coming in. We started with the old man ring of hair, then the thick mohawk  style, and now we've moved on to thin all over with the back of the head spiral. Even his hair is changing quickly! We gotta go...time to watch some VeggieTales! (for a picture of his face today go to my Facebook)

Conquering the Stairs

Elijah climbed up all of the stairs in our house today. He really enjoyed it like we thought he would. I guess he'll be getting up on our counters and climbing out of his crib soon. New skills are great and scary.

Whale-y Clean

Post bath time baby pic! He kind of looks angelic in this one. That's his whale hooded towel on his head. Usually he loves bath time and hates getting dressed in his pajamas...tonight he flipped on us and cried during his bath but was fine while getting his clothes on. Too unpredictable for us!

Tippy Toes

Elijah's standing at the baby gate that's blocking the kitchen. Daddy was in there trying to make dinner, but this little guy wanted to join in on the fun. He kept pulling his diaper bag then getting up on his toes. What a strong baby!

Ba Ba Da Da Ga Ga

I saw my baby for less than 2 hours tonight because of a meeting at work. He was fussy most of that time...except when he was standing at the couch talking to me. This little one is either hot or cold, up or down, happy or sad. Always the extreme one way or the other.

Hot Fan

Grandpa and Grandma were able to watch Elijah while Mommy and Daddy played softball. It was hot, humid and windy. We all survived...and we won the game. Elijah would cheer for us even if we lost every game. Elijah's favorite part was watching Daddy fall around in the sand.

Father's Day

Happy 1st Father's Day, Erik! I hope you enjoy your picture and scrapbook. Elijah and I love you!

Steak Boys

Erik and Elijah are enjoying a Father's Day picnic on our back deck. Erik and I had leftover steak, fries, and potatoes from Lone Star. Elijah sat in his Bumbo and ate some puffs, bananas, broccoli, potatoes, and steak (see picture on the right). Yes, we gave him a huge piece of steak because he can't chew it but he can chew on it (huge piece = no choking).

Side note: I saw a quote on Pinterest today and wanted to share it with you for Father's Day. "Don't marry a man unless you would be proud to have a son exactly like him."

Glow Worm Magic

He doesn't take his pacifier much anymore. Usually one glow worm song will put him back to sleep if he wakes up in the middle of the night. Night, night, little one.

Sometimes he gets a bedtime song. "Jesus loves me! This I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so."

My Baby Can Scream

I know, I know, this should be a video. Elijah's screaming...at least it's a happy scream. I imagine he's yelling "This laundry basket is so great! I can stand with it and get my fingers stuck in these holes! Cool! Cool! Cool!"

Soapy Turtle

Complete with a head of suds and a mouthful of turtle, Elijah loves bath time. He was so excited when he heard the water turn on that he hurried to the edge of the tub and tried to crawl into his baby tub. Too cute.

New Tummy Time

I caught Elijah lifting up his shirt. I don't know if he was itchy or if he was just wondering about what his belly looks like. Take a look at his knee...that's a permanent dirt stain thanks to crawling around on the ground all day every day. Once he learns to walk on his own, he might be able to get into more 'trouble' but maybe (just maybe) his knees won't be so dirty.

Learner's Permit

Daddy is already teaching him how to drive (in the garage - haha). He thinks he's hot stuff holding onto that wheel. Now we just have to show him how to change a tire, wash and wax it, put the top on/off, change the oil, and give it a tune-up.

"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in the deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ." ~Ephesians 4:14 & 15

Camera Again?

He's cool. He has toys. He has his picture taken way too much.

Day is Done

Elijah had a little fever all day which equals a hot and fussy baby who doesn't just want to be held. He wants to be held and walked around. He's tired and won't sleep. He's hungry and won't eat. Poor baby...we had a long day.

Cry & Clap

We think Elijah may be getting some more teeth. He was running a slight temp all day and I've spotted drool dripping down his chin. Plus, he's been extra fussy and cuddly. He started doing this thing yesterday...when he cries, he claps his hands. I tried to tell him that clapping is for being happy, but he seems to think that when crying doesn't get our attention fast enough maybe clapping will get him noticed. So far he's been correct.

Catching Bubbles

Erik was blowing bubbles at Elijah and Grandma was helping him stand. I think he enjoyed it. We may have liked it more.

Personal Pan Pizza

Tonight's menu: homemade pizza. Erik and I shared a turkey and cheese pizza and we made Elijah his own on a biscuit. He ate most of it - all but the edges which were a little too hard to chew.

God is great, God is good
We're gonna thank Him for our food
We're gonna thank Him morning, noon and night
We're gonna thank our Lord 'cause He's out of sight
Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen
Amen Amen Amen Amen Hey!

Funny Blocks

We had fun playing with blocks today. Elijah thought it was hilarious to have me put a block on his head and watch it fall. I lost count of how many times I put a block on his head. If it's easy, harmless, entertaining and cute, I'll keep doing it. Thanks for the fun times, son.

Starting Softball

Erik and I are playing softball this summer with the church. On the way to the game Elijah filled my glove with love so I would play well. The game was good...considering I haven't played since  middle school. We won and I made several plays at 2nd base. Elijah and Grandpa cheered us on from just behind the fence.

Tickles

Daddy tickling Elijah. Cheek to cheek smiles for Mommy's camera. Glad my son has a good father.

Child Labor

We've started putting this kid to work. He's got lots to do on his chore list including taking the towels out of the basket and flinging them all over the living room. Easy entertainment.

Adventures with Hippo

His hippo for Christmas last year was this walker. Look at him go!
