A Path to Follow

Parents leave prints on their children's lives...from years before conception to every second of the day.

Flowers

We picked flowers from the yard today. I think Elijah gave me seven flowers. It was hot though. Look at his face...turns red quickly just like mine.

He ripped the stem in half on this one. I'm just glad he hasn't figured out that rubbing them on your skin will turn it yellow.

Sunglasses

Buddy-Do is just wearing shorts tonight because it's way hot and our AC is not on yet...weatherman says it'll be in the 30's in a couple days. He wanted to wear his sunglasses so we let him try to put them on himself. He was so happy!

Sweet Child

"Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" ~Matthew 19:14

Hop

So the video is from today. I had a bunch of great pictures today since it's Saturday and I get to be with my baby all day long. But I decided on the hopping/falling video over the pictures. Maybe I'll put some pics on Facebook.

This picture is from earlier this week. I'm 14 weeks pregnant and Elijah knows that Mommy's baby is in her belly. He gives his brother/sister kisses.

New Washer/Dryer

We did a little shopping today. The video is of Elijah playing with all knobs and buttons at the store. Best playground we've found!

Golf Balls

We went outside to play in the driveway and throw golf balls around. Elijah wasn't too interested in throwing the balls, but he liked holding them and dropping them so they would bounce. Here, he has 4 golf balls in his hands...crazy long fingered kid...wonder who he gets that from.

Playing

Elijah found one of his baseball bats in his toy box. I told him his baseball was in his room so he went and dragged the toy to the living room. I turned the toy on and Elijah played with it for a while. The toy told him "nice swing!" and Elijah replied "thank you." His so polite with his toys. Then he flipped it over and turned it off and took it back to his room (with the bat).

Close Up

I put Elijah on the couch to take some pictures.

He liked laying down sideways and wiggling around to make everything blurry.

So we took some pictures sticking our tongues out. (Not pictured: me making faces behind the camera.)

Slide Seat

While we were outside, Elijah decided to take a break and sit on the end of the slide. Our tall yellow slide in the backyard is broken and angled way too steep to actually use. He's pointing at the trucks that were lined up on our street. They were loud. We even scared some birds out of the yard. Elijah calls them "fly" because that's what they do. I try to remind him that those are birds flying, but it's not working. He understands that airplanes fly and are called airplanes...hmmm.

Remi Visits

Although the boys didn't play 'together' much, they did play with the car ramps at the same time.

The boys also liked jumping up to touch the ceiling. I think the daddies enjoyed the workout.

Underwater

Bath time with bubbles was very fun tonight. Daddy gave Elijah a bubble mohawk and Elijah held his nose to go underwater. Then our little boy filled a cup with water and dumped it on himself.

Lego Man

Elijah was stacking his Lego blocks again today and even put the little Lego man on top. After we were done playing (and it was bed time), he helped pick up all the Lego pieces. Hopefully, he'll always be good at cleaning up his toys.

Fork and Dip

The new thing for eating foods is dipping. Anything that can be dipped, should be dipped. This is good news for us parents because he'll eat more foods as long as he has something to dip it in. Time to look up some healthy dip options.

Chocolate Milk

We bought half price drinks from Sonic today for tax day so we decided to give Elijah a treat too. Daddy added some chocolate syrup to his milk. I'm pretty sure he liked it, but he was a little hyper afterwards.

New Cousin

Kathryn Ellis was born this morning so we went over to Chad and Katie's house to see Elijah's new cousin. He thought she was pretty boring when she was sleeping, but he really liked her wiggly feet once she woke up and we held her. They also had a ball that was taller than Elijah and he loved rolling it and rolling on it. He liked their cats too...even when one tried to scratch him and hissed at him. Congrats!

Lego Stacking

We brought out the Lego Duplo set for Elijah. He made some really tall towers on the platform and the car. Frustration set in a little when he didn't get the blocks matched evenly and he pushed really hard making them fly across the room. Glad he likes to stack them!

Brush Your Teeth

Every night we brush Elijah's teeth to keep them fresh and clean. He likes to help so we give him another toothbrush to hold and we let him "brush" his teeth after we're all done.

Fix It

"Dada, I dropped this. Can you fix it? Oh...I hope he can fix it..."

"Dada fixed it! Thank you!"

Toss Up

Here's a picture so you can see how his scratch is doing 24 hours after the incident.

He will throw your baby. He will freak you out. He will also catch him.

Scratched

When we got home today, we went outside to play. Elijah threw a few golf balls and stepped in the mud. Then when he tried to climb up the steps where I was sitting, he fell on his face. Now he has scratches on his forehead and cheek. This picture doesn't show it very well, but I couldn't get a picture of the left side of his face. It looks worse in person...redder...bigger. He cried a little when it happened. He didn't cry when I cleaned it or put that gooey cleaner stuff on it. He cried more when I tried to put a Band-Aid on it (just like Daddy - haha). He cried even more an hour later when I told him he couldn't have any more crackers. And so we survived another bloody injury.

Cheese

After his evening bath, Elijah runs out to the living room to see me. I get out my camera and he said "cheese" while making this face. Note to self: natural smiles look better but cheesy smiles are hilarious.

Caught Yellow-Handed

We went outside because the weather was great today and Elijah picked his first 'flower' for Mommy. It was a Dandelion and made his fingers yellow. He also managed to get grass and dirt stains on his pants. Pure kid!

Missed You

Here's Elijah looking at all of his stuff after a long day with Grandma Shelly. Goodnight! We missed you today.

Running

Running from one wall to the next is how Elijah spent his time while we were packing. We're going to Columbia this weekend and leaving Elijah with Grandma Shelly. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Zipper

Elijah really liked playing with his hippo backpack today. He took everything out and put it all back in just like he does with any basket, bag, or bucket. He loved the ducky zippers because he was actually able to unzip them both all the way. Look at the concentration on his face - crazy lips. Compare with his lips yesterday when he was reading. So funny.

Animal Books

Elijah's reading is accelerating. Well, his pointing and understanding pictures is getting better. In "The Grouchy Ladybug" I've made up a sound or action for each animal and he's doing a good job at remembering them. I think the gorilla pounding his chest and the elephant's swinging trunk are his favorites.

Foot Art

I saw him struggling to put a crayon between his toes so I got out my camera. Then he started coloring using his toes. He had a pretty good grip on the crayon. Fine motor skills include fingers and toes...right?
