Hanging Pile

Elijah hanging upside down off his bed.

Eva crawling up Elijah's pile of toys. Not really, but she is doing tummy time on them.

Puzzle Chewing

Erik tosses Elijah the next piece to the puzzle. Elijah keeps saying, "Don't throw me at it, Daddy!" I tried to correct him, but it's not working.

Eva thoughts: Should I chew on my doll's hair or my finger? Both!

How We Dinner

We can't use our kitchen table so we eat in the living room. I'm on the couch, Erik on the floor, Elijah in his highchair, and Eva sitting in a toy or being held by the parent who's not eating.

She's eating toys now...dinner is later.

A yummy meal of strawberries and ravioli for Elijah.

Little Things

Elijah having some lunch before nap time...he's been asleep for 3 hours as of now.

Eva girl up on her hands and knees...I see crawling in our future.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Uncle Brett's Bday

The Kmart down the road from us is closing so we stopped by yesterday to see if they had any good deals. We ended up buying some new sheets and a huge orange ball for Elijah. He held it in the store until he had thrown it too many times.

Then we went to a Mexican restaurant for Brett's birthday. Elijah gave Uncle Brett some gummie bears and worms. We also had cake...with blue icing. They went bowling afterwards, but Eva had to go home to get to bed.

We let Eva wear the birthday sombrero, but she didn't like it very much.

Car & Cookies

Elijah: "Mommy, I'm going to buy you something."
Me: "Ok. What?"
Elijah: "A car. To race with."
Me: "Thank you."
Elijah: "A yellow car...like mine."
(Elijah runs off to his room and comes back.)
Elijah: "Here."
(Elijah hands me nothing.)
Elijah: "It's not fixed yet."
(Elijah bangs on the floor and 'fixes' it.)
Elijah: "You're welcome, Mommy."

It's time to bake cookies so I gave Eva the only measuring cup that I wouldn't be using. She's such a good baker!

I measured and Elijah poured all of the ingredients. I explained what a recipe is and even let him open and dump the soften sticks of butter. He also counted when we had 3/4 or 2 cups to dump.

Then we took turns stirring the dough. He liked to bang the spoon more than stir it.

My minor mistake was giving him a spoonful of cookie dough. He put it all in his mouth at once. I should have given him a couple small bites instead.

Eva's by the back door getting some fresh air. "I'm a good helper!" she says.

Rainy Day

On Sunday morning, a little boy took over our bed. How does such a small child use so much space?

It's yucky wet outside so we're inside today. I made breakfast casserole this morning and Elijah helped me clean the living room and his room. Now the kids are playing together with Elijah's pirate toys.
